After having made a few more “rustic” lighting projects, I wanted to create something with a more sci-fi aesthetic. Using a series of six two-way mirrors, I built a hexagonal infinity mirror with a crystal in the center. The crystal is lit from below using a ring of RGB LED’s. When the LEDs are off, the crystal is invisible and the outside windows just look like mirrors.
When the LEDs turn on, an infinite row of crystals shows up through the mirrored windows. The LEDs in the base of the light are controlled via WiFi using an ESP-8266 microcontroller running WLED firmware. The light itself was designed completely in Fusion 360 and the parts were then 3D printed.
